Instagram Story Cinemagraph Ad
Okay, now this one is special to me. The intent for this ad was to appeal to women aged 55+ and express the benefits of a soda that has natural ingredients and no sugar, while still conveying it as a refreshing, energizing treat. And that was all successful. But the joy came in the process of creating it. I needed a woman aged 55+ to model for me - and as surprising as it may be, I'm not close to very many. My precious grandmother was the perfect candidate, and happened to be in town that weekend! Her gracious self was more than willing to participate.
The photo session for this cinemagraph (essentially a stop-motion sequence with specialized motion effects) was a balance between art direction and getting my model comfortable behind my intimidating black lens. But she was phenomenal, and so proud to be involved. She was enthralled by my ability to add motion to a still image and change the color of her nails in a matter of minutes, and it was a joy to show her my process.
All in all, despite the imperfections that I see as a result of staring at this for hours on end, I LOVE this piece. It is one that I will love for a while, and that is rare for us designers. But the successful strategy, creative copywriting, and cinemagraph execution ultimately were driven by the joy of getting to include my family in my work.
This piece was featured in TCU's 2023 Society of Creative Excellence Exhibition. It was an honor and privilege to be featured alongside incredible designers! I think my grandma was even more excited than I was when I sent her the pictures.
